Looking ahead to 2025-2026 in Redwood meeting - July 2025

On Wednesday 2nd July 2025, parents were invited to attend a meeting about their child's next academic year at StJohn the Baptist.  Please find below a copy of the slides used which included details about the curriculum, future trips and attendance.   

Spellings for the Autumn Term

Please find below a copy of the Years 5&6 spelling list.  Children will be taught the spelling strategies through a main teacher input and spelling games.  At the end of week 2, they will be given a dictation featuring their fortnightly words.

Homeword Topic Grid (optional)

A variety of fortnightly activities are available for children to complete—please see the list below. Hand-in dates can be found on the homework grid. This homework is optional, but all completed work will be celebrated. Selected pieces will be showcased in your child’s “Best Work” book. 

A Day in the Life of a Child in Redwood Class

Here is our timetable for Autumn 2025.  Maths Fluency is a new addition and will be delivered away from the Maths lesson.  Dedicated fluency practice helps children recall math facts quickly, reducing cognitive load so they can focus on complex problem-solving and develop deeper conceptual understanding. It also builds confidence, reduces anxiety, supports curriculum pacing, and lays a strong foundation for success in advanced mathematical topics.
